The Philippines is blessed with greenfields. The statement done, might l safely proceed without anyone asking why this question is in this Travelogue Page?

l remember catching dragonflies on the fields round the school building. They were mostly blue, darkgreen, or blazing orange.
What colors of dragonflies do you have in your place? When you were a tot, did you use to catch them?Do you use a net or your hand?If it is by hand, do you use thumb and forefinger, approach it slow, so very slow, then pounce on the tail, or do you cup a hand and swoop? Have you encountered a dragonfly that feigned death when swooped by a cupped hand, and when you open your hand to see why it was still, suddenly springs back to life and freedom?

nostalgia..

yey, i loved blue dragonflies as a kid. to catch one, i use my thumb and forefinger. slowly creeping and catching the wings. sorry, i do not like that icky feeling when dragonfly legs scratches my fingers.

i prefer to catch damselflies though. in different colors.i am even very patient in following the one that i like through the fields till i catch him. nevermind the ''bugang'' -- or ''tigbao'' for ilonggos -- leave cuts i get =)

Yup - it was fun to catch dragonflies with our bare thumb and forefingers (less damage to the insect).

haha yeah! (Not only dragonflies, but grass hoppers too!!) I remember when I was like 4.. i wud run after soo many dragon flies, and my older cousins would help me catch them and put them in a jar, and then I would stare at amazement. But I'd always release it later on. Now a days I dunt see much dragon flies. or maybe i'm just not paying attention anymore.

Never had many of those when I was little. Now, we have purple ones, and it is a pleasure watching them flying, or landing somewhere and then doing a series of take-offs and landings to the same spot. They are too pretty to hurt.

those were the days. after breakfast, my friends and i would ran through the fields hoping to catch ''tutubing kalabaw those red, big dragonflies. But all we could manage was ''tutubing karayom or damsel flies. There is song that we used to sing everytime we try to catch one:

Tutubi, tutubi,
wag kang pahuhuli,
sa batang mapanghi.

those were the days, my friend.

yes, when i was a kid, i catch dragon flies together with my friends.not only dragon flies but also grasshoppers and salagubang on a vacant lot of our neighbor because there were lots of tutubing karayom there mostly color blue.
i approach it very slowly and used my thumbs and forefingers to catch it. i used to tie it is tails with a thread and let it fly around like a kite..
Haayy..miss those good old days..

I remember when my elementary friends & I used to do that in the playground area of our old elementary school. It was a lot of fun, & the more sadistic ones among us had even dipped the poor dragonflies that they caught into the idle waters of the decor pond.
As much as I would love to do that still, I am afraid I had lost the childlike agility that I had used then to actually catch one. I come within two miles of the dragonfly & it suddenly flies away, I think my footsteps have become too heavy. Besides, I have not seen any in at least five months. :D

growing up here in portland OR, nena was into catching paru-paro (butterflies) coz that is our state insect..but we also have tutubi (dragonflies), most likely from the nearby state of WA, where it is the state insect

the tutubi i remember were mostly golden yellow & no nena did not use net to capture them.i could easily grab 'em with my fingers & then would set 'em free again.nena very kind to insects, except gnats, fleas & ants & tr0lls..ewwwww

lots of insects in OR coz we have lots of lovely flowers, most notably our roses
